Sunday evening

I'm halfway through "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle," and continue to relish each reading. I love that Wroblewski is a first-time author, that he is 48 years old, and that he spent ten years working on this masterpiece. It's been years since I've had a dog in the house,- we've been a cat family for quite some time. Reading "Edgar," though, the memory of our last dog is renewed within me. Once again, Annie sits outside my office, waiting for me to turn out the light and head up the stairs to bed. I half expect to come upon her as I open the door, lifting her lovely dark head for a good-night pat.
